PSP iR Commander is OUT (Universal Remote Control)
As promised, here is the official release of the iR Commander. iR Commander is a Universal Remote software for PSP and it's based on the standard Pronto Codes format. Refer to the Pronto code section for links to obtain Pronto codes for your remotes. The iR Commander only supports v1.0 & v1.5 PSPs as it requires kernel mode to run.

Feature List:
1) Support standard Pronto Hex Code format. The most popular IR code database published on the net.
2) Allow direct mappings of PSP keys to remote control keys. Current version support maximum of 24 keys per device.
3) Support maximum of 100 Remote Control Description Files (rdf) per PSP.
4) Allow optional user supplied bitmap graphics for remote control layout description. If bitmap graphics are not used, system will automatically generate key description menu. Users can also choose the auto-generate key description menu to overlay on top of the bitmap graphics.
Usage Note:
1) unzip the pspircom06.zip and place the files "IRCOM" & "IRCOM%" to your PSP under /PSP/GAME/.
2) You can define a remote control by adding a Remote Control Description file (rdf). This is a plain text file. Pls refer to the sample "Panasonic TV.rdf" for syntax description. You can simply use Windows Notepad to create a rdf, make sure you disable Word Wrap via Format->Word Wrap menu. This will allow you to see one code entry per line under Notepad.
3) If you make any typos in rdf file. The program will abort telling what & where you've made the typo after you have chosen that remote in the application.
4) There is an iR indicator on the top right corner on the remote control screen. It'll flash in RED if the PSP is tranmitting IR signal.
5) Refer to the "Panasonic TV.rdf" sample for defining Macros.

First link contains direct Pronto Hex Codes (over 2000 devices). Second link above points to Component Configuration Files (over 6000s) which contains many pronto codes for different devices, but you need to use the Pronto Editor (downlaod Pronto Edit 4.0.5 from the same site) to open it.
If you're having problem in using Pronto Editor, follow the instructions below:
1) From ProntoEdit main menu, choose File->Open to open the ccf file you downloaded.
2) The left hand side of the window has a list of HOME, DEVICES & MACRO GROUPS. Click the Plus(+) sign on the DEVICES and another list of sub devices will be listed. Look for the one that looks like to be the device you want. Example, "TV" or "TV Codes" and click it. A grahical device layout window will popup.
3) Look for the key that you to copy the codefrom. Double click the key.
4) Another popup window appears. Double click "Learned".
5) Another window appears. Click "View IR" and you'll see the code.
Additional Note:
1) You don't really need to find the exact model for your device. Most manufacturer uses the same set of IR codes for the same type of devices they made. If you can't find your model, try a similar IR codes from a similar model.
2) In case you can't find the Pronto codes for your device, you can use a pronto compatible device, such as PocketPC to learn it's IR code and copy to PSP. I tried to learn the code with my PPC and transfer it to PSP, it seems to work fine.
To Do List for Next Version:
- Increase support from 24 keys to 48 keys per remote.
- Increase maximum of RDFs from 100 to 1000.
